Bill Murray, who lives in the Charleston area, showed up at a local engagement photo shoot. He’s epic like that. He pulled his shirt up and flashed his stomach to the couple, trying to make them laugh, as the photographer is looking through the lens to take the picture. Now THAT is a picture I would like to see. I can only imagine their expressions.
Bill Murray is writing on the wall of life. He shows up. Not long ago he was dining at a local restaurant and was invited to say a few words at a bachelor party. He gave advice to everyone but the groom, and this is what he said…
“If you have someone that you think is The One … take that person and travel around the world, places hard to get into and out of.” he said. “And if, when you land, you’re still in love with that person, get married at the airport.”
I love that Bill Murray lives here and is such a part of our local culture. He is one of the owners of our local baseball team, Charleston River Dogs, and is often spotted out and about writing on the wall of life.
Bill Murray knows how to live life. He’s not afraid to show up. And I am not talking about him showing up as a celebrity. I think he shows up in spite of being a celebrity. I can imagine that celebrities like Bill Murray do not have the freedom to be normal like we do. They learn to pull back, be reserved, keep a low profile… be invisible. I would imagine it would be the only way they have any peace while they are out. But sometimes he just cannot help himself and shows up anyway. He writes on the wall of life. I love that about him. I would love to spend the day with him.
We all have our own way to write on the wall of life. Most of us cannot pull off the pulling up of our shirt and showing our stomach kind of thing for a laugh. Bill Murray is magic like that. But let it inspire us to write on the wall of our life in our own epic way. Let us do what makes a difference, what makes someone smile, what touches someone heart, or what makes our lives more beautiful.
Writing on the wall of life,
