Making a Dent in the Universe… The Things That Matter

The things we say…the things we do…it DOES matter. It all matters. You are…

Making a dent in the universe.

We are the hands and feet of Christ. | Read more about making a dent in the Universe... artofabeautifullife.comThat thing you just thought about someone, that nice thought you had about them, TELL them. It WILL matter. That person you thought of when you read that inspiring book, send it to them. Now. Right now. That thought might be a DIVINE nudging. God may be using YOU to speak life into that person. Don’t wait until you forget or chicken out. I know. Sometimes these things…these NICE things…even take courage, don’t they?

We get self-conscious. We start hearing the voices in our head. The voices will tell us that what we say does not matter to them, that they will think we are foolish, that they will find fault with what we say. Honestly, sometimes it happens. But mostly…those voices are lies.

And sometimes it may only seem like it doesn’t matter. Someone may not respond because they do not know how. Many of us are new to this whole people loving on us thing.

“Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion for the world is to look out; yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good; and yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now.”

~Saint Teresa of Avila

Let’s be BRAVE. Let’s ALL be brave. If in no other way, let us be brave and do THIS. The reach from one seemingly small act could be FAR. All it takes is to stir something in ONE person for that person to start a mission of their own. It is the ripple effect.

That $5 or $10 that you didn’t donate because it felt too little, it matters. Every little bit is a seed that counts and a thought that counts. God looks at the HEART. And we are His hands and feet to love on people in the flesh.

Do not let any good thing be left unsaid.

Life is short. People matter. Kindness matters. Little gestures matter. That kind thought you are thinking of someone right now could sow seeds of greatness in their life. It could be the thing that might begin to slowly turn everything around for them just because someone, just because YOU, spoke a kindness from your heart or reached out to them in some way.

Show up. Speak up. This is where life is LIVED. Live the story you want to tell. BE the MAGIC.

Write a note. Write a letter. TELL them. Give that gift. Share that quote. Give a hug. POUR into people from your heart.  Let’s do it. Let’s all be brave. Let’s take the time. Let’s make a difference. Let’s make a dent.

Writing on the wall of life,

~Topaz

  1. Sometimes even the smallest gesture matters, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem to you, it might be just the needed thing for the other person.

    • Exactly, Ana Lynn. Something small could be huge. When we feel it, do it…say it. Right then.

  2. Oh how I adore this… yes yes YES!!!! I feel those nudges to ‘DO something’ ‘SAY something’ ‘GIVE something’ and I push through the anxiety, the awkward moment, the excuses… because God calls us to respond to those swells of our spirit.

Thank you for this beautiful directive. It helps remind me of why I take those faithful ‘inconvenient’ and often uncomfortable steps…

  3. I get nudges from God frequently. I used to question them… but not so much anymore. I remember in the Margaret Feinberg Bible study, Wonderstruck, she shared how she was going to visit a terminally ill friend. She got a sudden urge to pick up some toilet paper. She thought it was crazy and tried to dismiss it but she couldn’t shake the thought. So she showed up at her friend’s house with the hugest package of toilet paper. A couple weeks later, their friends contacted them to thank her for the toilet paper. They said they had so many visitors and things were so busy, they were thankful they didn’t have to go out and buy toilet paper. God took care of their every need… including toilet paper.

I guess the thing is, we can only be God’s hands and feet if we open our hearts and ears to listen to what he is telling us to do.

Thanks for sharing, inspiring, and reminding us to be alert to those urges to act.

    Wishing you a lovely day.
    xoxo

    • I think we all question them until we get a few under our belt, and then we see His hand. We learn it is not our own voice calling us but His. Wow. Even with toilet paper. God just thinks of everything. Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful story. Have a wonderful day, my friend. xo

  4. Topaz –
Your words are always such a great reminder to me. Thank you for continuing to inspire me to slow down and remember to act from the heart. Even though it may be hard at times to hear that voice.

  5. wow, I love that quote from St. Teresa. Thank you so much for this reminder to give people the love they need. Sometimes it’s just so much easier to go through life w/ our eyes cast down and wrapped up in our own world. We need connection and it starts w/ us.

    • So true, Stephanie. It begins with us. In many ways, it is our own healing when we do.Thank you so much for visiting, Stephanie.

    • And it’s just such a beautiful way to live…being conscious of what we put out there, what we are giving to the world, how we are leaving our mark. Thank you, Wilma! It’s wonderful to see you!
